Casey Caracciolo I was sitting there one day and I realized there was a big hole in the market because J.K. Rowling was not writing any more Potter books. I had had this idea a while ago about combining fantasy with tech, and it dawned on me that why not me. Why couldn't I be the guy that fills that whole and gets people excited about reading? I then started to think what would I want to see in a series . . . dragons, robots, wizards, vampires, werewolves, flying cars, wrist communicators, demons, imps, anime style battles, meta humans, anthropomorphic animals, etc. I thought, what if I took all the mythologies of the world and tried to make them all make sense in one mythos, but explain it with science and then set it all in the future. That's where The Shadow of the Gauntlet began.
Casey Caracciolo You have to just keep at it. Switch it up or move on, but keep getting words down. You can always go back and change things, but you can't sculpt until the clay's there.
Casey Caracciolo Readers are the best thing about writing. A close second is the escapism that comes from creating a unique world and characters, but the best thing are the readers.
Casey Caracciolo Readers are the best inspiration there is. We do a lot of Comic Cons and direct feedback is the best inspiration. When someone comes back and says they loved the book, it is the best inspiration you could ask for.
Casey Caracciolo Keep writing. Just like anything, practice as much as possible. There are so many channels for you to get your work out there, so don't give up or be afraid to do things differently. And rewrite. Editing is the only way your work will be good enough. Writing is rewriting.
Casey Caracciolo I am currently writing the sequel to The Shadow of the Gauntlet. It is called The Dragon Within, and we hope to have it out early next year.
