I take a walk or a drive out. I look for renewed inspiration from nature: landscape or the weather or from observing those around me. I also put myself in a scene in my head and let it play out in front of me. That can sometimes result in a new insight or change of direction, refreshing my writing.

The ability to create worlds and lives and to give shape and form to your ideas. In your books, almost anything can happen. Often the characters take you in unexpected directions. That's a lot of fun and can be exhilarating and surprising.

Lots of things inspire me. Sometimes press stories. I love mystery so any unsolved happenings or crimes get my brain working overtime. I find spring an especially inspiring time for my writing.

My most recent book is titled 'You will die' and is the second in the DI Giles series. The idea formed when I read a report in the press about a good guy turning bad. In this book, members of the clergy are being murdered possibly by one of their own.
