I had one who was a sociopath. The process of getting an agent is generally degrading, a process I would wish on no one. I think it is time to eliminate the agent from the publishing process. Perhaps publishers and editors should work harder to meet writers, to actively engage in the process of finding great fiction rather than passively piling up manuscripts from desperate writers and artistically corrupted agents.
