To me, the best thing about being a writer of narrative history is reminding the readers that history is exciting. To often, people associate history as the record of events and dates. To me, history is a STORY. It has a plot. It has good guys and bad guys. It has climaxes and cliffhangers. It is more riveting than any fictional account.

Best advice? -- Write in the active voice. Don't use a lot of adverbs. Keep it simple. If you have to spend time on finding the right word, then it better be a verb. In my mind, the right verb is everything.

I don't get writer's block. Perhaps I'm blessed.

Currently, I'm taking a break from WWII. I decided to focus my attention on the Forgotten War -- Korea. My next book, which will be about the Battle of Chipyong-ni, is slated for publication in the Fall of 2015.

I've always wanted to write. I started writing horror stories when I was in 5th Grade. Granted, I'm no Stephen King so eventually I moved onto other genres. Around the same time, I developed a love and a passion for military history. I majored in history in college and in graduate school. In fact, my love of military history led me to join the greatest army on the planet - The United States Army. I served as an infantry soldier and later as an infantry officer and then as a military intelligence officer. During my time as an officer, I started to write articles, which later ended up in such periodicals as WWII Magazine. The rest, as they say, is history. Thank you again! Hope you enjoy the books!

Well, I wanted to write this book even while I was writing No Silent Night: The Christmas Battle for Bastogne with Don Cygan. I always thought this story had two parts. No Silent Night was the first part, which was the story of the 101st Airborne Division's storied defense of Bastogne while Patton at the Battle of the Bulge was the story of the relief of the 101st Airborne. Namely, it's about the 4th Armored Division, which led the way for Patton's 3rd Army.
