John Righten Teresa di Vicenzo and James Bond. She was broken when he met her and he was broken when she was tragically taken from him.
John Righten It's not the writing; it's not the publication; it's not even when I receive a positive review; it's when someone says 'That made me think' even when they didn't even agree with what I wrote.
John Righten Writer's block isn't a problem for me, as I just thrown all my thoughts down on paper. The problem is paring my nonsense down into something concise while retaining my original idea. That's why it can take me a month to write a book, but 11 more to make it deserving of the reader's time to open it.
John Righten I'm an avid reader of newspapers and everyday something just makes me think - how can this possibly happen? Then I start to think what could be done and I began to scribble in my notebook.
John Righten Polishing the sharp edges of The Gathering Storm, prior to its release 1 December 2014.
John Righten If you have a story to tell, go ahead and tell it. When you have, don't be afraid to ask people what they think. If you receive criticism and it's constructive then appreciate the effort they have made and judge for yourself whether this is where you wish to take your book. If it is just negative and full of bile (sadly it will happen) then say b#llocks to them, ignore then and keep going, the pen/keyboard is at your fingertips after all.
John Righten When I was a humanitarian aid worker, I encountered some exceptional characters: the good and the bad. So after writing of my encounters with them in The Benevolence of Rogues, I thought of blending them with real events that took place leading up to the Second World War, which led to the adventure/thriller Churchill's Rogue, the first in the The Rogues Trilogy. Now I have released Chapter 1 of the second in the series, The Gathering Storm, on Goodreads to see what readers think.
