Christina Mitchell Haha! I wish I had a good answer. I drink a lot of wine, power-eat candy and weep. And sometimes I write garbage. That's a pretty good way to snap out of it. Let's pretend that's the only thing I do.
Christina Mitchell A couple of different things. The second book in the Bad Girls of Cherry Lake series has been drafted, so I'm about to start re-writing that. And I also have book that I started during 2018 NaNoWriMo. It's a May/December interracial romance featuring a black forty year old Michigan woman and her white, British, twenty-nine year old neighbor. That one's pretty spicy and fun to write. We'll see where it goes.
Christina Mitchell I think maybe it's just me always asking, "What if?" I'm a devil's advocate by nature and I'm never satisfied with the first answer I get. I'm the person who listens to your whole story and then excitedly asks, "What happened after that?" So once I get curious about "What happened after that?" I can't stop until I write it out. Not too long ago, I was watching Forensic Files and there was a handwriting analyst who had an interesting face and helped solve a complex case. I immediately sat down and made some notes for a future novel.
Christina Mitchell It came from a lot of places, really. A Taylor Swift song. A Halestorm concert. A movie that I thought I could make better. Mostly, I love disparities in money, age and circumstances. So the book idea began when I decided I wanted to write a second chance romance with a shy wealthy hero and overweight, poor heroine, simply because I'd never read that. Over the years I spent working on this book, I changed things massively and ended up with a hero who used to be fat and rich and now is neither, and a heroine who used to be poor and is now rich. And how money and weight-loss were not solutions to their problems.
