I'm still not sure of the inspiration behind Jersey, other than my recollections of growing up in Queens (NY) and hanging out in bars as a teenager. My friends and I were underage, so we had our own getaway, avoiding parents and police, similar to the way Jersey and his friends have their own secret society in the Pour House and Ink Well. I also grew up watching a ton of classic movies, so that probably had some influence, too. But who knows. I'll never be sure.
I'm working on another crime novel now, but it's not part of the Jersey Leo series. I'm hoping to finish this one up, and then get back to Jersey and his crew. :)
