Michael Weisberg I'm inspired to write by either things that happened in my own life that leave a lasting impression on me OR by things going on in the world around me that grab my attention. I try to make my books and stories entertaining but I also want them to have a deeper message that the reader can take with them and incorporate into their own lives.
Michael Weisberg I'm currently working on a book that looks at the world through the lives of five people who are brought together on one day. These characters are diverse in backgrounds, religions and social status. Through these five people, we are able to examine the meaning of life.
Michael Weisberg To write about things that you know and that are important to you. Also write about things that you think should be changed in the world because this gives you an opportunity to make a lasting change.
Michael Weisberg Having the opportunity to share my opinions on life and about the world. I also enjoy being able to create my own world and the characters that inhabit it. It's very rewarding to discuss my work with others who have read it and realize that I have given them different perspectives to view people and issues that involve society.
Michael Weisberg The way I deal with writer's block is to take a break and do something physical such as exercise. This seems to refocus my mind on what I'm writing and gets me back on track.
Michael Weisberg The idea to write The Hospitalist came from my observation of one of the most critical changes that has occurred in modern day medicine; the introduction and rapid growth of 'hospitalists,' which are doctors who only take care of sick patients in hospitals. At a patient's sickest hour they may be examined in a hospital by a hospitalist who knows nothing about that person or their family. My novel, "The Hospitalist," satirizes medical care in the 21st century.
