Frank O'Neill The best thing about being a writer? Could it be the constant adulation? The enormous financial rewards? Hmmm. I'd have to say it's the satisfaction I get from the creative process.
Frank O'Neill I pick up one of my favorite books. Great writing is always a great inspiration.
Frank O'Neill I was traveling in Nicaragua during the Sandanista revolution and spent a night in one of Somoza's prisons on suspicion of being a Sandanista. When my friend and I complained to the American ambassador about our treatment at the hands of the Guardia Nacional, we were sent to the Presidential Palace, where we met the liaison between Somoza and the general who headed the Guardia at the time. After our meeting, the liaison (lets call him Hans) invited us to have a drink at the Managua Intercontinental Hotel. That evening, we had more than one drink (many more) and learned a lot about the Somoza government, which would soon be overthrown.

The story that came from that experience is pure fiction, but some of it is based on fact.
Frank O'Neill A political thriller inspired by the downfall of the Nicaraguan dictator, Anastasio Somoza. It's called To Kill A Dictator.
Frank O'Neill I'm not sure what writer's block is, although I'm easily distracted by family, friends, the World Cup and a hundred other things.
