Tonya Cannariato Absolutely, PERN. I've been enamored of dragons and their tiny cousins the fire lizards ever since I started reading in Anne McCaffrey's world in the 80s. I've wished to be able to have that literal telepathic connection with animals since first reading, and every few years I go back and re-read the series to revisit one of my favorite places in the universe.
Tonya Cannariato Usually if I'm stuck it means I'm stressed or tired, so I take all the pressure off and start binge reading... or watching movies... or some other non-writing activity that helps me refill my creative well or address an underlying mental health concern. When I was grieving and depressed, there was no way I could be creative, though it took me a few months to stop beating myself up about it. I'm taking that as a lesson learned for the future. :)
Tonya Cannariato Actually, almost everything inspires me to write--my dreams, the news, conversations I've overheard, random facts, strange characters. The world we live in is so topsy-turvy sometimes I think fiction makes more sense anyway, so why wouldn't we all want to live in one of our favorite fictional worlds...? :D
Tonya Cannariato In general, my ideas come either from my dreams or from science news headlines.
