If it's minor, I go for a walk - moving the body frees the mind. If it's major then it's a sign that I'm "under-nourished" and I need to ingest more stories, movies, landscapes; try new/novel activities; meet new people; rest for while; write in response to something else.

The process itself is fascinating: sense emerging on the page as I play with words, weighing them, re-arranging them; enjoying them. Seeing the final product (book, article, poem) in print never fails to delight me and then there's the greatest thrill of all when readers tell you how your words have touched their lives.
