It comes from the honorable, courageous, inspiring men and women of our military who selflessly put their lives on the line to defend America. Many return from battle battered and bruised, both physically and psychologically. More needs to be done to assure they receive proper provisions, but also integrated into society in a variety of roles for which they're amply qualified.

I try to write/research/edit or consider aspects of my story each and every day. As a husband, father, friend, employee and active member of the community I try to carve out at least 30 minutes a day to hone my writing. Future aspiration is to write full-time. There are a lot of stories cluttering my head and not enough time in the day to smash them onto the keyboard.

Minerva. It started as a stand alone novel, but will morph into a series. My title character, Dax Rushmore is introduced and is forced to grapple with enormous internal and external conflicts.

Never quit! If the story is important and you believe it needs to be told, then why not write it? It's hard work, but if you're willing to put in the time, disregard the negativity and focus on your skill, completion of a novel is one of the most gratifying accomplishments you'll achieve in life.

The characters. You can start out with one who may be a small entity in a subplot only to discover they become major characters as the story progresses. Being a writer also gives me an opportunity to look at the world in a fresh perspective. There's a lot of good in life and I try to touch upon the importance of the human bond in each story.

Go for a hike. It gives me the opportunity to enjoy nature while thoughts about the story I'm working on and plot lines are considered.
