Scott Peters Hi Kian, thanks for your question!

My co-writer, SD Brown, lives in Northern California where she owns a rock shop and museum. After the fire, she heard so many stories from visitors--both first-hand accounts, as well as stories from friends and family of residents. We wanted to give the people of Paradise a voice, to try and share a bit about what they went through and what they lost.

We also wanted to pass on some fire safety tips and facts in the end section that we learned during our research.
Scott Peters Here are seven thoughts for aspiring writers:

1. Read. A lot. In every genre.

2. Be honestly, fully interested in the people around you. Only by putting yourself in many diverse pairs of shoes can you begin to write fully formed characters.

3. Know that you must be okay with spending a great deal of time alone.

4. Realize that every book you write, no matter how exciting, requires a big commitment and some degree of agony--whether you're a beginning or seasoned writer.

5. But you will get better at it.

6. Study sentence structure. Brush up on all that grammar stuff you learned in school, especially the stuff you glazed over... now it will seem pretty interesting!

7. Get into a regular writer's group, or form one yourself. It will motivate you to produce work (you'll have to bring critique pages, right?), it will improve your writing, and it's a good way to be social and develop your craft at the same time. Plus, you'll make some of the best friends in your life.
Scott Peters Hi Joanne, thanks for your question! I've just messaged you directly.
Scott Peters The Secret Book of Mummies
(101 Cool Facts about Mummies)

This new book I'm putting together is going to be a fun compendium of facts gathered over the years. For example, did you know the average mummy weighs only 5 pounds? Or that modern body scanners that might be too dangerous for humans have been tested using mummies as stand ins? I hope you'll have as much fun reading it as I'm having putting it together.

The book is due out this summer.
