First Love Again, which released in November, is set very close to where I live. I love the islands and island life of Lake Erie and I wanted to set a story there. So the setting came first, and I knew I wanted it to be summer, so a class reunion seemed like a great idea...and it all snowballed from there.

I could be inspired to write a story by just about anything - a snippet of overheard conversation, a story in the newspaper, a dream...sometimes story ideas pop into my head fully formed. They're just there, waiting.

Right now I'm in the middle of a new series of cowboy books (3 billionaire, Las Vegas cowboy brothers - yum!) ... and I've submitted a new proposal to my Harlequin editor about a small town in Missouri...and I've just finished up edits on my third Harlequin, Protecting the Quarterback. Busy, busy, busy!

To paraphrase Nike - just write it. Get your story down on paper and don't worry if it's publication worthy. Write it. Leave it alone for a while and move on to another story. Write that one. Go back to that first story with fresh eyes and read what you've written. Find a critique group, and write some more. And then write some more. And then submit...you can do it!

I don't believe in writer's block. I believe manuscripts can get off track and that worry over other things can sometimes make it hard to write...but if I sit in the chair every day, I can get over just about anything.
