The two main characters of this book are respectively mentioned in and featured in the first book of the NEXUS series, and I wanted to explore their characters and past a little. And without giving too much away about it yet...that's pretty much it.

Alongside trying to get the paperback version of Acts of Violence sorted out, I'm writing the third entry in the NEXUS series. It's going back in time a little, though we'll be seeing a couple of familiar faces. Swords, white cloaks, and psionic abilities feature heavily.

Being a god.
Also the freedom. Especially with sci-fi, I - and my characters - can do whatever I want, wherever I want; I am unconstrained. Anything I imagine, can become a reality of sorts. If, along the way, the books entertain and/or amuse people, all the better.

Write. It's the most important part of writing. One might argue that without it, you aren't a writer. And finish writing. Unless something is truly abysmal, you should always see it through to the end. Even if it won't ever see the light of day again, it will help you practise the various aspects of writing, such as endings - something that might be trickier than expected.

The only time I've had writer's block, I 'dealt' with it by not writing anything for about a year. A year is, perhaps, a touch too long; but leaving your work to sit for a couple of days or a week will usually help. Otherwise, writing another scene or a short story might. Even going back to the start of the book and just reading it.
