Anne Allen Hi Elizabeth

My only experience is having my aunt and uncle adopt their two children and working as a therapist with adoptees. For my book ,Finding Mother, I undertook research in Jersey and Guernsey.

Anne Allen I was sitting quietly on the sofa when a note was pushed under the door. My heart pounded - it was a cupboard door.
Anne Allen I'm reading Green Dolphin County by Elizabeth Goudge as it's set in a fictional version of Guernsey during the Victorian period and I'm writing about that time. Also plan to read 'Take Nothing With You' by Patrick Gale and there's many on the TBR pile!

Anne Allen I wanted to use the main setting from my second novel, Finding Mother, which is a large gothic mansion now turned into a natural health centre and retreat. Then I wanted someone killed in the past and another one in the present, with links to an old theft.
Anne Allen By seeing the overall plan in my head and then filling in the gaps. I need to have a clear picture of where I'm going with the story or I'll literally lose the plot.
Anne Allen Book 4 in The Guernsey Novels series. I've just published book 3, Guernsey Retreat, and one of the supporting characters in that, Charlotte, becomes the main protagonist in this, The Family Divided. It's another mystery/ love story with echoes from the German Occupation in WWII.
Anne Allen Just keep writing, even if you think it's poor. As you write, you learn and improve your craft. It's never an overnight success, being a writer.
Anne Allen I love working out stories and inventing characters and then deciding what happens to them - good or bad. A feeling of control, even power, in one area of my life at least. And it's lovely to get feedback from readers saying how much they enjoyed my book(s).
Anne Allen If it's only temporary, I'll stop writing and divert myself with a walk or make a cup of coffee. For a bigger block that stops me moving forward, I'll catch up with other things for a few days and then come back to it. The diversions rarely include housework, however ☺
