What an intriguing question. Life itself is a mystery and easily lends itself for mysterious plots. My grandmother once told me that when I was born all hell broke loose.
My mother and her husband fought furiously and her husband's brother came to her aide and they fell deeply in love, which tore the brothers apart and turned their family bitterly against my mother. They divorced shortly after my birth and my mother fled with me and my older sister. She never had contact with them or ever admitted what had happened to me or my sister.
So, who was my father?
Thank you, for your thoughtful question.

Great question.
I love Thorne Smith's fantasy novel Topper and its 1937 film adaptation because they are about one of the most endearingly funny fictional couple's, I can remember and a hilarious, ribald comedy. Constance Bennett and Cary Grant play Marion and George Kerby, a wealthy, freewheeling young married couple who are killed in an auto accident and are ghosts who have to do a good deed to go to heaven. George and Marion set about to liberate Cosmo Topper, Roland Young, a henpecked banker and the fun and belly laughs never stop. I am also a Turner Classic Movie fan and periodically they play this Oldie but Goodie movie.

"[Thorne Smith] created the modern American ghost. A ghost with style and wit. A ghost that haunts us still."

Gloria Rising has been in the back of my mind for over twenty years. I finally felt the story had to be told. The story is based on true events and my healing work with a survivor of child abuse, and our discovery of the unbelievable healing powers of the mind and human spirit.

Inspiration is a funny thing, I can't write without it. What I write must be meaningful and important to me and within the realm of my life experience.

Gloria Rising is my current passion and when you read it, you will understand. I am taking a break from my writing and enjoying life. When my creative spirit calls me I will resume writing.

Follow your passion and never give up. Do your homework and learn about writing and proper grammar, and read, read, read. Don't do what I did and fly by the seat-of-your-pants and learn solely from trail and error.

Writing about what interests me and what I feel passionate about helps eliminate writer's block. I also do a head-check if I get stuck in the creative process to determine what is making me anxious. Usually, I have lost touch with why I am writing and trying to meet outside expectations and pressures that kick in anxiety and self-doubt that kills the creator within me. Once, I refocus on my passion and what's important to me the creative juices begin to flow again.
