Debbi Weitzell Good question! Maybe I'm a bit prejudiced on the subject, but I would like to visit Ora's world. Dynora and Kateele fascinate me.
Debbi Weitzell Sorry, questioner. I haven't been in this site much lately. I'm currently reading about alternative medicine--specifically craniosacral work. And some about medieval living conditions. Research, you know....
Debbi Weitzell All the incongruities, questions, and intrigues of the past few day swirled in her mind, daring her to put forth her trembling hand and turn the knob. She did; and as the door creaked open, she knew her fears had been well founded.
Debbi Weitzell The clarity I gain when I have to work hard enough at thoughts and ideas to convey them to other people. And the joy I feel when others get something from my work.
Debbi Weitzell I can't tell you that. It will probably end up in a book, and I don't want to spoil it for you! :)
Debbi Weitzell Two ways. I set the cause of the block aside and let it work on the back burner for a while. Then I work on something else. Often, as I make progress on the second project, the way to move on the first presents itself.
And sometimes I just get up and do something else for a while (which can be from an hour to 6 months). While writing daily is important, you can't beat creativity into a manuscript.
Debbi Weitzell Many times the stories start with dreams. Sometimes events, quotes, scenes that I witness. Then I try to hear what those events have to tell me. From whatever spark, I start spinning the ideas. Sometimes they have to spin for a long time. Those that stand the test of time eventually get written.
Debbi Weitzell The book I'm trying to get out the door is a sequel to "Ora's Quest." It has been quite a long process to write this one, because it seemed that certain things just weren't where they need to be to make the story come out the way it needed to. Over the past 3 years I have learned things that have informed the story. They have also fueled my notes for Book 3! I hope readers will enjoy the result.
Debbi Weitzell Writers write. Wannabe writers talk about writing.
Keep a journal. In it, write about the things you witness and how you feel about them. This serves many purposes, not the least of which is discipline. (The other purposes are also extremely important, but not direct answers to this question.)
