Andy Lucas In the silent blackness, she sensed the malevolence lurking just beyond the pitiful protection of her bedroom door and instinctively knew that the moment of her death had come. Fear evaporated, resolve inexplicably stiffened and she turned the unseen handle firmly, shoving the door open as hard as she could with a shrill cry; knife held high.

Andy Lucas Hi Howard. I am delighted that you enjoyed Underworld: Chimera - it is always fantastic to hear from someone who has enjoyed one of my books. The sequel has not been completed yet - I am currently working on it, with the intention of releasing it at the end of August. It will then be available on my Amazon page or via my website. Thanks for getting in touch. Andy
Andy Lucas My writing windows are very short, sandwiched between family and working time, so I tend to find that I am keyed up to grab the writing time whenever it comes. In a way, having to wait for my writing time allows me to be prepared so I don't suffer that often from writer's block, as I am always excited to get back to my writing. On the odd occasion when my creative juices dry up, I reschedule another writing window and go and spend time with my kids, or go for a walk with the dog. This tends to clear my head and works for me at the moment.
Andy Lucas Creating something that did not exist until you breathed life into it. It is also, for me, the chance to give enjoyment to other people, albeit for a few hours. Books have given me so much joy over the years and it is something I aspire to give to others.
Andy Lucas Ignore creative advice, or criticism, however well-intentioned! Write the words that you want to write... tell the stories that you need to...not those that other people believe you should be telling. I would, however, suggest getting work edited professionally before release just to ensure that there are not any spelling or grammar issues that will get in the way of a reader engaging with your narrative.
Andy Lucas The sequel to RACE AMAZON is nearing completion now, titled SKELETON GOLD, due for a Christmas release. I am also rewriting a previously incomplete novel, a sic-fi thriller titled UNDERWORLD.
Andy Lucas I find inspiration everywhere but mainly I have a 'need' to write, which pushes me to keep writing despite the many distractions that life throws at every writer!
Andy Lucas The idea for RACE AMAZON came out of the rise in reality TV shows that placed contestants in challenging environments, then tasked them to overcome their fears. These tended to be celebrity contestants and the risks, although real, were clearly well managed by the production companies. I considered how an ordinary person might manage if they were put in such a situation and then the protections were removed. I have always enjoyed the anti-hero thrillers and this allowed me to really pit a range of characters through a hellish environment, layered with sub-plots to flag up environmental and political angles as well.
