Elizabeth Spann Craig Thanks for this, Sherrie, and for reading "Checked Out!" I'm working on book two in the series right now. :) It's "Overdue" and, with luck, will be out by the end of the year (otherwise, January). You can find more information on the story here: https://elizabethspanncraig.com/books... . Thanks again!
Elizabeth Spann Craig Hi Mella! Thanks so much for reading my books.

Unfortunately, there won't be any more Memphis books--my editor for the series left and the publisher doesn't want any additional books in the series. I'm sorry since I enjoyed writing the books, the characters, and the vibrant city of Memphis.

Elizabeth Spann Craig My favorite fictional couple is Jo and Laurie from "Little Women." Except the relationship didn't exactly turn out the way I wanted!

I was also fond of Nancy Drew and Ned Nickerson. :) Their relationship seemed very glamorous to elementary-school-me, especially since Ned was in college.
Elizabeth Spann Craig Hi Mella! Thanks for the question and for reading my books.

There were a couple of things that influenced that. I first started drafting a book in this series in 2003ish. A neighbor of mine at the time was *extremely* upset about some "yard art" that another neighbor had. It was actually a very frou-frou wishing well (with no function as a working well) and some small statues.

Soon after, Parade magazine in the Sunday paper featured an elderly couple with a collection of yard gnomes. Something clicked in my head at that point. :) Their collection wasn't as extensive as Myrtle's, but I figured she could put her collection into overdrive.

At the time, my grandmother (my original inspiration for Myrtle's character) was regularly exasperating my father over her antics. It all came together!
Elizabeth Spann Craig Thanks for reading my books, Lacey! I based Myrtle on one of my beloved grandmothers—Mary Ligon Spann, a retired English teacher with a very sharp mind and a delicious sense of humor. :)
Elizabeth Spann Craig I decide not to have it. :) With the deadlines I'm under, I've got too hectic a schedule to deal with a block.
Elizabeth Spann Craig Currently working on a Myrtle Clover (book 8): "A Body at Bunco." It will release spring 2015.
Elizabeth Spann Craig Set a very reasonable, very reachable goal....maybe 1/2 a page a day or 10 minutes a day. If you miss a day, don't try to catch up--just treat each day as a clean slate.
Elizabeth Spann Craig The best thing about being a writer is the absolute necessity of daydreaming.
