Clan of the Cave Bear's hunter-gatherer lifestyle would be wild. But then I might find it hard to resist playing the part of a Connecticut Yankee. Melville's Typee also has a lot to offer, though I'd probably get myself eaten before 60 pages went by. In the other direction, who wouldn't want to take part in the Last Generation as depicted in Childhood's End? Safer to just stay here and vicariously live the lives of the neurotic landed gentry as depicted in nineteenth-century literature.
