It was a Halloween prank to tie up Jeremy's little sister, sneak in a local funeral parlor after dark, and stuff her in a casket. Her screams were never heard over the roar of the cremation furnace.

I was in Las Vegas for an open house event with the Hotel Castaneda. It was built in the 1890's, has been abandoned for many years, and is now being restored by a history buff. Walking through it is like walking through a Steven King novel - spooky and filled with possibilities.

I'm preparing to work on the tenth book of my Mogi Franklin Mystery Series. I have the location - Las Vegas, New Mexico, centered on the Hotel Castaneda, which is a historical landmark being restored - and the historical mystery, but I haven't worked out the modern day crisis. So, I'm going to start writing anyway and see what turns up.

I think a lot. I live alone, which is an advantage that produces a lot of alone time, so I sit in a recliner in my living room - no TV, no radio, no music - and I think about my plots, my settings, my characters, and imagine what it would be if they were real life. What would actually happen? How? At what point in the plot? And what would I see if I were there as a bystander.
