Jim Lively The alarm on my iPhone pierced the calm of yet another sleepless night. I dutifully arose, walked to the bathroom, switched on the light and was immediately confronted with the reflection of a half-naked sixty-two year old man.
Jim Lively That is an excellent question! I grew up watching westerns on television. Accordingly, I enjoy fiction about that era such as Larry McMurtry's Lonesome Dove. I would love to be able to travel to that era to be a fly on the wall so to speak and just observe the culture! Thank you for the question.
Jim Lively Summer reading is all about guilty pleasures. I love reading historical non-fiction that takes place in the American west. In particular, I love the writing of Tom Clavin. I am currently reading Dodge City, Wickedest Town in the American West. Tom also wrote "The Heart of Everything that Is". It is a bio of Red Cloud. Thanks for the question!
Jim Lively That is a very intriguing question. After some thought, I would have to say that the mystery in my life is that I almost was not born. I was the youngest of four boys. Believe it or not, I did not learn that my mother had a miscarriage before the birth of my brother who is the next youngest in age. I suspect if she had not had a miscarriage, then I would not have been born since my parents settled on having four children. That scenario could lend itself to an interesting plot.
Jim Lively That is a very good question. There are so many fictional couples to choose from. I think I will take an unusual path to answer this question. I will say Denny and Enzo from "The Art of Racing in the Rain". While Enzo is a dog, I love the interaction between these two characters. In fact, this book influenced my book "Punitive Damages". If you have not had a chance to read it, similar to Punitive Damages, it is written from the perspective of the dog. It is a touching and fun read.
Jim Lively Hi Jatana, PJ (my Weimaraner) is probably around 10 or 11. Since she was a rescue, I do not know the precise age! Thank you for your question. All the Best! Jim
Jim Lively I love to create whether it is through writing or painting. Both are a passion for me!
Jim Lively I am writing a sequel to my latest novel, "Punitive Damages".
Jim Lively Do not fear rejection, because you will be rejected. Just keep striving to improve your craft and maintain your discipline. If you are truly talented, soon your talents will be recognized.
Jim Lively It is being able to share your creative insight with others.
Jim Lively I take a few days off, get some exercise and then return to the computer with an renewed sense of energy!
Jim Lively My new novel, "Punitive Damages" was inspired by PJ, my adopted female Weimaraner. I knew soon after I adopted her or she adopted me, that she was no ordinary dog. We matched wits from the beginning with her usually winning. It occurred to me that she would be an excellent subject matter for a book. The book is written entirely from her perspective.
