Toi Thomas I don't usually rate or review books unless I've actually read them, but I'd be happy to check it out and see if it's something I'd want to add to my TBR list. It may fit into a challenge I'm doing.
Toi Thomas Armada by Ernest Cline
Turn Tables & Rise of the Sea Witch by Stacey Rourke
Cress, Winter, & Fariest by Marissa Meyer
Descender: Tin Stars by Jeff Lemire
Toi Thomas Like many African Americans, I find the study of my mixed heritage to be a great mystery full of drama, trauma, and struggle. But, since I'm here and have a loving family surrounding me, it's ultimately a story of triumph I'd tell if I decided to use some of that mysterious history in a story.
Toi Thomas Rachel and Bryce from the Spellbringers Series by Tricia Drammeh.
Toi Thomas I never thought romance was a good subject for me to write until someone told me that a small romance I wrote within a larger story was the best part. Later on, after watching a few romantic movies I actually like (not big on chick-flix), I got the idea of a story mash-up with some twists and extras. My current project is greatly inspired by the films Moonstruck, A Room with a View, and How to Make an American Quilt.
Toi Thomas I don’t really know. I have moments when all I want to do is read. I have moments when all I want to do is write. Sometimes I become inspired by a new idea, but for the most part, I don’t need inspiration. I always want to write.
Toi Thomas I am working on my first contemporary romance. I find that as an author I’m a bit of a genre masher, but this project should be fairly straight-forward.
Toi Thomas If you love writing, you don’t need any advice; just do it. If you want to publish your writing, do an excessive, almost obsessive, amount of research. Then, constantly and consistently work on your craft.
Toi Thomas As a writer I have the opportunity to create worlds, capture a moment or emotion, and justify any idea that’s right or wrong. Writing can be powerful, but for the most part, it’s freeing. The best part about being a writer is documented self-expression.
Toi Thomas I keep a catalog of writing topics, ideas, etc...If I get stumped on one story, I put it aside for a while and work on something else. 90% of the time, I make it back to the story I was stumped on and work it out. I believe it letting ideas be free and letting writing be natural. I think writers get blocked when they are trying to force their writing.
