Currently, I'm trying something a little outside my box: mystery. Naturally, there's a dash of theatre thrown in. I'm using National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) as a platform as motivation.

I actually push myself through it. What I write may end up on the cutting room floor, but at least I'm putting something on the page. I can always go back and edit later (and I usually do).
