Jeff Shaw At times, I feel like I have a guardian Angel. Do I?
Jeff Shaw My published book is a memoir of my career in law enforcement. Who I Am: The Man Behind the Badge started out as a written diary for my children, I wanted them to know what their father did for a living and why I was the way I am. It morphed into what it is today.
Jeff Shaw I'm not sure, I just am, although I go through periods of self doubt were I feel like I am wasting my time. Usually I write anyway because, I have found the more I write, the better I am at telling a story.
Jeff Shaw Sometimes you will write crap, but don't stop. A rough draft is just that, rough. Get it down and then you can polish it later. Enjoy the process, because publishing is the hard part.
Jeff Shaw I find writing fiction allows me to escape into someone else's life. Call it escapism. We can become the hero, or the villain and see the world through their eyes.
Jeff Shaw I move on to another project. I usually have two or three short stories I'm working on so it's easy to switch, and somehow that cures it. I also spend a few minutes at night in bed thinking about whatever is causing the block. It's usually a problem with the plot.
