Justin Melick I haven't really experienced it. But when writing a novel you do often have to figure out how to make the plot work, and fill plot holes. I take long walks and the solution will come to me.
Justin Melick The basic premise for this particular novel came to me one night when I was living in Indonesia. As with all houses in third world countries, ours had bars on the windows, a high wall with barbed wire and a strong, metal gate. Over there, due to radical elements, periodically violent anti-western sentiments arise and expatriates are forced to either evacuate or lay low. It was that feeling of isolation as I looked out the window that evening wondering what would happen if we were attacked that gave birth to the story.
Justin Melick Paying attention to the crazy world around us frequently provides inspiration for new stories. A spark of an idea that develops over time. I'll never live long enough to write them all so I just have to try to choose the best ones.
Justin Melick Get started. Write the first word, the first sentence, the first page.
Justin Melick The Good Lord made me to be a story teller so any chance to create stories is wonderful.
Justin Melick The sequel to Hazardous Intervention.
