My inspiration came from reading I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Dr Maya Angelou. I cried and felt very connected to her story. Hearing her speak her poems and hearing other people recite them made me want to write poetry.

My advice for an aspiring writer is to research. Pull out your pen and note pad, and go to work. The more you can learn about the business of writing you will avoid the common mistakes first time author's make from lack of knowledge.
Also, WRITE EVERYDAY. Whether you feel like it or not. But most importantly READ. Read all kinds of books related to your preference. That way you can learn what you like and don't about writing styles and learn a trick or two from the bestsellers.

The best thing about being a writer is I can transform my thoughts and feelings into words. I can say what I want, and become who or whatever I want. I am the ruler of my imaginary world. I go as far as I want. There is truly no limit to the imagination.

I deal with writer's block by using prompts. I take a random prompt, which can be a sentence fragment, incomplete sentence, picture, or every day situations and brainstorm writing down anything that comes to mind. At this moment, I wouldn't be worried about if it makes sense are not. Sometimes I have to create a new story line to write about.
