For me there's actually three best things about being a writer. The first is that "aha" moment when a story hits you out of the blue. The second is that moment after numerous revisions when a publisher finally accepts your story. And the third, especially as a picture book writer, is performing readings in the classroom and seeing kids getting excited about reading and the magic of the creative process. That fires me up to start the whole cycle over again!
