The best cure for writer's block is a deadline! Most of my comics work is work-for-hire and I have an editor and an artist counting on me to turn my script in by a specific date so we can keep production on schedule. Time is often tight and it's up to me to just pull the laptop out and get something written down. I do have one special trick: I don't let myself get hung up on writing all of the gags or coming up with all of place or character names on the first draft. I'll use a placeholder (like "XX" or "gag here") and give myself more time to think about them while I get the structure in place.
