My most recent completed book is part of a trilogy, so the idea was technically from my original storyline. Back in 2009, I came up with a rough draft of how the story was going to go. As I wrote each individual book, I added twists that just came to me as I was writing. Now I'm working on a zombie book and every day I keep getting new ideas that I want to incorporate.

When I write, I imagine that I'm watching a movie that plays over and over in my head. Eventually, I have to write it down before I forget one liners and other clever little tidbits. Once I start getting into the flow of things, I usually can't stop until at least one chapter is finished.

My youngest son loves scary stories and movies, especially ones involving zombies so I'm currently working on a book about............unicorns. No, zombies, but maybe I'll incorporate unicorns. Probably not though, that's a little far fetched even for my imagination.

Write a basic outline for your idea which includes the main plot, characters, names of places, little twists you want to add, etc. Then write a paragraph at a time until it resembles a chapter. Once you have a few chapters written, ask people if they would like to read it and provide feedback.

The best thing about being a writer is to take a simple idea, put your own twist on it, and turn it into a storyline that will entertain others knowing that it was your creation.

I take breaks when needed. I don't write every day, so when the mood or ideas come to mind, I jot them down in a notepad. I have many notepads!
