My publisher and I were having dinner, and we were kicking ideas around. He produced a long list of possible subjects, and asked if any of them appealed to me. I picked a few. We went on from there. That's how it often goes for non-fiction writers. A publisher needs a certain thing, and you're hired.

I was just hired to be the editorial manager for a movie streaming service. I'll get to write abut movies, and manage a bunch of other writers. Should be interesting. My publisher also wants a new book from me next year, a true crime story, but details are still being hashed out.
