Brian Tice I generally have more than one writing project in queue at any given time, so when I come to a place where I need to take my focus off one work and come back to it afresh later, I turn to another project. E.g., at present I have three translation projects (a sofrut series) underway, but also have a historical research work I can pull up when I need a diversion from the present project. I keep my goals as far as publication dates malleable, as I would prefer to publish a work of higher quality at a later-than-anticipated date than rush to meet a rigid deadline and put forward something of lesser quality.
Brian Tice If you can't find the book that you are looking for, maybe you're supposed to write it. If you're interested in it, certainly there are others who will be as well.
Brian Tice I am in the process of compiling and translating the most significant works bearing upon the work of a sofer STA''M (Jewish scribe) and am dividing them into their spheres of influence, i.e. the Ashkenaz, Sephardic-Mizrahi, and Yemenite (Baladi Rite) traditions to be published as three separate volumes of a Sofrut Series.
Brian Tice My work as a Hebrew and Judaica research scholar, working with Jewish manuscripts, exposed the need for an English translation of an important 2nd century work which has never been fully available in English to date, so I spent over 1.5 years preparing an annotated translation for publication and the result is Sefer Tagin: An Ancient Sofer Manual.
