I'm working on another children's book. Prior to the pandemic, I had a stack of story tickets for stories that I told the kids, which I want to turn into books. Also, during the pandemic, I've been holding virtual story time, which have been much longer more involved stories for the kids. More than enough to keep me busy.

The fairytale of the 12 Dancing Princesses, which is this story that leaves so many questions unanswered in the original. Why is there a trapdoor to a magical underworld under the princesses bedroom? What is this magical world? What do the magical princes that they are dancing with want? Why is the king executing princes who cannot figure out the mystery of the princesses dancing slippers? Given king-daddy is killing people, why are the princesses not only still going into the underworld, but sabotaging the princes from figuring things out. The Old Soldier, who solves things, got magical dust from an old woman at a ford for helping her (in itself not uncommon in fairytales), who was the old woman? What is her relationship to the story? One of the princesses married the Old Soldier. What happened to the other 11 women? Lots of space to come up with a story.
