A publishing mentor of mine once told me that creativity happens in the subconscious. I don't view writer's block as an obstacle - I see it as a challenge. When I don't know where to go next with a story, I walk away from it and engage myself in mundane distractions like doing the dishes. This allows my mind to wander, which usually leads me to the solution I was seeking.

The best thing about being a writer is being allowed to play make believe for a living. I get paid to imagine wild happenings, impossible situations, even entirely foreign worlds. And then I get to explore them all, from the comfort of my favorite chair.
