My last series was about a pair of brothers who took care of each other when they were young. Part of the initial inspiration came from wanting to write a Sam book for my editor--she's a Sam Winchester fan (from Supernatural), so I needed one book about a younger brother. I knew some of the conflict in both books had to come from the obligations each brother felt toward the other.
