Over the years, between working full time, writing, and raising six kids, I’ve struggled to sit down and physically read a book. These days, audiobooks have become my lifeline. Audible lets me keep up with stories while driving or even while the house is loud and chaotic.
This year I’ve been catching up on Expeditionary Force by Craig Alanson and starting the Starship Lost series by Craig Martelle. Both are perfect companions for long drives and busy days.

Having six children means my life is full of mysteries I never see coming. One moment everything is calm, and the next there is a phone call that completely reframes what you thought was happening, usually involving one of my kids explaining something I definitely was not prepared to hear.
Over time, I realised those moments have a strange pattern to them. Misunderstandings, hidden truths, and consequences that spiral far beyond the original moment. I have started weaving some of those real life situations into my stories, including one in Book One that came straight from a very memorable phone call involving my son and his girlfriend’s father.
Parenting turns out to be excellent training for writing about chaos.
