Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Edwin Wong I've wanted to write a theory of tragedy ever since I read Nietzsche's "The Birth of Tragedy" when I was a teenager. That seems like a lifetime ago.

How do you get inspired to write?

Edwin Wong Black coffee. And reading other books. But other books which are unrelated to my topic. If I read books on my topic, too often I'll end up parroting their arguments. Unrelated books are avenues to new ideas.
