My last book, "Spirit of the Prairie" was both the inspiration and the genesis for my upcoming book, "Professor of Pageantry". Dr. Franklin L. Gilson wrote the Medicine Lodge Indian Peace Treaty Pageant and directed it until his death in 1946. Serendipitously, he was the widely-recognized head of the Speech Department at my alma mater right here in Emporia, Kansas!
My extensive research for "Spirit" sparked my interest in Dr. Gilson. Having made the acquaintance of his granddaughter and great-nephew, I learned more and more about his life--almost firsthand! Thus, the beginnings of the biography was born.
