Ellie Stevenson I'd like to go to Santa Theresa, United States, and be an assistant to Kinsey Milhone, Sue Grafton's fictional PI (A is for Alibi series) for a few days - desk research only - Kinsey gets into some tricky situations!
Ellie Stevenson At the moment, only one! Walking Home by Sonia Choquette (about walking the Camino de Santiago)
Ellie Stevenson I don't really have a favourite fictional couple as I mostly read crime fiction (!) and biographies/non fiction, but I did think that PI Kinsey Millhone (Sue Grafton's alphabet series) and her lover and fellow PI (Robert) Dietz made a good team. They've lost touch and were perhaps too similar to be a permanent match but they did have something.
Ellie Stevenson By stories that intrigue me - it might be something I've read or heard or seen - and because many of my pieces have a historical element then learning about the history of, say, a house can then lead to an idea. Ideas are great but the hard work comes in putting those ideas into a structure and then onto paper - or, more accurately, a computer!
Ellie Stevenson Three things

1. Join a local writing group (or online group if you prefer). There's nothing like the motivation that comes from being with other writers
2. Focus on getting the words down to begin with. You can edit and improve the quality later. The important thing is to write
3. Don't quit if you're serious. Writing is a long-term game
