Paul Van Der Merwe Hi Eric, it took 8 years, 3 months and 6 days to write, but generally it should not take that long!

In my case, there were many reasons - completely rewriting it once, putting it on ice for a year when I realized I had to rewrite it, my two sons being born during this time and doing my "normal" job during the week.

I guess persistance pays off :-)
Paul Van Der Merwe Putting something out there and leaving something behind.

Getting feedback (good and bad) on your work which helps to know that people are at least reading your book.
Paul Van Der Merwe I was working on a very stressful project while managing the design team for a new diamond processing plant in the mountains of Lesotho.

For the first time in my life I had problems falling asleep. I eventually had to start forcing myself to have happy thoughts, hoping it would relax me so I could fall asleep.

The mind is a wonderful thing and these happy thoughts I had in my half-awake-half-asleep state was quite interesting. The problem was I could not remember them the next day, so I put a notebook with a pen next to my bed and noted the thoughts I was having at 02:00 in the morning.

I eventually ended up with quite a few scribbles in the book and decided to write a book in also fulfilling a life-long dream.

Paul Van Der Merwe Marketing my book. Seems to be much harder than writing it!
Paul Van Der Merwe Just do it! No one has time and most people have a day job. This book took me 8 years, 3 months and 6 days to write, but if I never started writing........
