I'm working on a novel about an elderly Mississippi woman who moves to New Orleans to open a cafe for Lebanese-Americans in an African-American ghetto on orders from the Mother of God. It is about death and resurrection and an old woman's fierce determination to revive a moribund, once-thriving neighborhood to bring back in new form the beloved dead of her cherished past.
