D.A. Greiner Write! List the major plot points, create an outline, capture an anecdote, pen the first paragraph or chapter - do something to move your idea forward and provide the momentum you need to believe you can really do it.

Discipline yourself! Carve out a time of day when your creative juices are flowing and commit to writing something everyday during that time. (My goal is to get up at 4am Monday through Friday to work on my next novel a few hours before work. It's not easy, but the rest of my day seems so much brighter when I've managed even a few hundred words that morning.)

Start small! Writing an entire book is daunting, so begin by writing articles, skits or short stories to practice and gain confidence. Churches, organizational newsletters and small town newspapers love to use local talent.

Get involved! Join a writers group to gain feedback and encouragement. Google " writing groups" to see what's available.

Learn! Read books about writing and enroll in classes at local colleges or through specialized organizations. (I graduated from the apprentice-level program offered by the Christian Writers Guild.)
