I know you have just read 'Softpaw', so I am pretty sure that's the book you are asking about.
Writing the entire book was fun, really. But if I were to pick a singular favourite part, in all honesty - it would be research.
Because we got lucky and spend Christmas a few years ago in Paris, visiting all the (existing) sites of the book. I still remember standing on the footbridge over the Port de l'Arsenal one very cool December morning with my wife, taking pictures of the spot where the 'Cullinan' would be moored, both of us grinning like idiots.
It was a lovely trip for us, and the joy carried through the entire writing process.
