J. Dharma Windham I don't believe professional authors have the luxury of writer's block. In my experience an inability to move forward means that I am heading in the wrong direction. A change in heading always corrects the problem.
J. Dharma Windham The act of creating a compelling story!
J. Dharma Windham Write write write. Then write some more. And remember that every writer has a reader. Tastes are so subjective. My wife detests escargot. I adore it!
J. Dharma Windham I am currently doing a rewrite of the I, Nemo sequel. It's a huge book! At least three times larger than I, Nemo.
J. Dharma Windham I can find inspiration in just about anything. The act of sitting down and booting up my notebook is inspirational. Living so close to the ocean has proved to be inspirational. In the past I used to spend a lot of time at sea on my cabin cruiser. Trust me, very feel things are as inspirational as a day trip to Catalina Island, or a nice coastal cruise.
J. Dharma Windham I have adored 20, 000 Leagues Under the Sea since childhood. The idea for I, Nemo had been rolling around inside my head since the 1990's but I was then writing in the fantasy genre. I always thought it would be fun to write a book in which Nemo tells his story in the form of a journal. I, Nemo also gave me the opportunity to give a nod to the other writers who shaped my childhood: Herman Melvile, Alexandre Dumas, and Charles Dickens.
