Several of my relatives served in the armed forces during World War II. One of them came back a changed man. I wonder what his experiences were, how he might have struggled to process them in a time when there was little known about and few resources to treat PTSD.

My favorite fictional couple is The Scarlet Letter's Hester Prynne and Reverend Dimmesdale. I like them because, in spite of their human weaknesses, they ended up realizing that only by standing in the truth did their relationship have any hope. I also love that, in spite of the pain their weaknesses caused, their love produced their child, Pearl. Pearls are things of great beauty born of discomfort.

Hi Louise. I just got your message today. Thanks! Hello to you, too!

The idea for "Your Faith Has Made You Well: Jesus Heals in the New Testament" began as I was reading the Gospel. I noticed that the healing encounters people had with Jesus were not one size fits all. Sometimes he initiated contact; sometimes people came to him. Sometimes he touched people, some he healed by speaking a word, some were not even in his physical presence. There were physical, emotional, spiritual, and social healings. I began to wonder what that means for us as individuals in the here and now and started exploring the answer through my writing.

The best thing about being a writer is connecting with what I've loved to do ever since I first learned to form letters on paper. Allowing ideas and images to flow from my mind through my fingers on to satisfies something within that's been part of me for as long as I can remember.
