You can escape. Although ,I still think fact is stranger then fiction a lot of the time.
But there is something rather indulgent about building and nurturing characters. I love it when my characters make me laugh out loud - or want to weep. As though they take control over your fingers on the keyboard for a while.

Don't give up! Believe in yourself and learn to take rejection as another step on the journey.

I just load a blank page and let the mind go wild. This usually gives the freedom for a little fun and diversion for my characters to misbehave or do something unexpected. It doesn't matter if I use it or not in the final draft, as long as it gets me writing again.
