Robert actually mentions that Jay told him about it in Jewel of the Fae while in the Utah mountains. That scene will be in a future book in more depth.

That's a long story. When the first book was written, language and sex were all over the place in books and I wanted something less gritty, but fun to read. Remember, as an ex cop and investigator the real world isn't always a pretty place so I was looking to write a fantasy that was, I don't want to say nice, just more of a fun read on the beach in an afternoon. So I made the decision to use softer language and limit the sex scenes.
What I found out later was that many of my readers also read paranormal romance and grittier books but appreciated the softer touch so I kept up with that theme in the rest of the books.

I'm in the process of writing a spin off with Jay as the main character. It's set in the Vegas Fae universe and will start with events that happened in the final chapters of Night and Fae but will quickly take off in its own direction.

The basic idea for the characters came from stories my Grandmother told me as a child. I then threw in some ideas from real life situations from my Police career and some Las Vegas history.
