Lightning Strikes, is my work-in-progress. it's my most ambitious novel to date and it deals with the 1896-99 Klondike Gold Rush. I'm using Historical facts and letting my characters interact and have their inevitable conflicts against this huge backdrop. I also want to address the bigger questions this time: reincarnation and our purpose on Earth. I've never done this much research or wanted every word to count for as much. It's my twenty-third book and it feels like the one I was supposed to write since the beginning. It will take far longer to write than my usual few months, maybe even a few years. It will take what it will take, simple as that.

I know the answer I always, write, edit, rewrite. But it's the same in any calling, you have to be there to make it happen. And you'd better like your fictional characters as much as your friends 'cause you're going to be spending a lot of time with them!

Writing and researching. I'm working on a Klondike era book and the research is inspiring in and of its self. The moment that an idea takes hold is like falling in love all over again. It's an enormous blessing and one I don't take lightly.

I think Jack London said it very well, "You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.”

Writer's block is not something I've had to deal with. The opposite is true, too much to say and not enough time to say it!

The idea for my newest work, Lightning Strikes, came just recently when I wanted to write about a healer (former prostitute) against a huge event backdrop. Decided on the Klondike with its wealth of inspirational characters and events. Been rereading Pierre Burton's, The Golden Trail and watching Deadwood and rereading its scripts to prepare. Jack London and Robert Service are also part of the research. Fascinating stuff!!!
