I am currently working on the sequel to Fall of Empires which takes place during the pivotal years of the Arab Conquests. There are some fantastic battles to write about and also a lot of intrigue and skulduggery.

I realised that current historical fiction seems to be fixated on certain periods to the exclusion of others. There is a vast amount of fiction set during the Roman Empire and the Crusades but very little set during the centuries in between. I thought that the Seventh Century was crying out for a historical fiction novel to be written about it, so I wrote one!
